Terms Of Service / Effective 10/8/25

User Terms

1) Acceptance of Terms

By accessing our website, making a donation, registering for programs or events, volunteering, or otherwise using our services (collectively, the “Services”), you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

2) Who We Serve

True-North Initiative is a U.S.–based nonprofit. Our website and materials are intended primarily for people in the United States, and information may reference U.S. laws, programs, and resources. Donations are processed in USD, and tax deductibility applies to U.S. taxpayers as allowed by law. If you access our site from outside the U.S., you do so at your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws.  If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must review and accept these Terms—and any program-specific waivers—on your behalf.

3) Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Effective date” above will reflect the latest version. Material changes will be posted on this page. Your continued use of the Services constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

4) Privacy

Your use of the Services is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what information we collect and how we use it.

5) Donations & Payments

  • Donations. Donations are generally non-refundable. If you believe a donation was made in error, contact us within 7 days at the email below and we will review on a case-by-case basis.

  • Payment Processing. We use third-party processors (e.g., Stripe) to handle payments. By submitting payment information, you authorize us and our processor to charge your selected payment method and you agree to the processor’s terms and privacy notice.

6) Program Participation (including youth programs)

  • Eligibility & Safety. Participation may require completing forms, providing accurate information, and complying with staff directions, safety rules, and applicable laws.

  • Parental/Guardian Consent. For minors, a parent/guardian must complete all required permissions and medical/emergency forms.

  • No Guarantees. While we strive to provide positive, educational experiences, we cannot guarantee specific outcomes.

  • Removal. We reserve the right to deny or remove participation for safety or policy reasons, including disruptive or unsafe behavior, without refund where permitted by applicable policy.

7) Code of Conduct

Users agree not to: (a) harass or harm others; (b) post or transmit unlawful, defamatory, or infringing content; (c) attempt to disrupt the website or Services; or (d) misuse our content, trademarks, or logos.

8) Accounts (if applicable)

You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials and for all activities under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.

9) User Content & Testimonials

If you submit feedback, stories, or testimonials, you grant True-North a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, and display that content for mission-related purposes in any media, unless you revoke permission in writing. We may edit for length/clarity while preserving the original meaning. Do not submit content you do not have rights to share.

10) Media & Photography (programs/events)

We may capture photos, audio, or video during programs and events. These may be used for educational and mission-related promotional purposes. If you (or your minor) prefer not to be included, please email us before the event and inform staff upon arrival so we can provide an opt-out indicator.

11) Intellectual Property

All content on the website—text, graphics, logos, and materials—is owned by or licensed to True-North and protected by law. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our prior written permission, except for personal, non-commercial use as allowed by law.

12) Third-Party Links

Our website may contain links to third-party sites or services. We are not responsible for their content, policies, or practices. Use of third-party sites is at your own risk.

13) Health, Legal, and Financial Disclaimers

True-North provides educational and supportive programming. We do not provide medical, legal, or financial advice. Information provided is for general educational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional advice. Always seek the guidance of qualified professionals.

 14) Disclaimer of warranties
The Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, True-North disclaims all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

15) Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, True-North and its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenues, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or related to your use of the Services.
To the extent you have any direct claim, our total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or related to the Services will not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you paid to True-North (if any) for the specific Service giving rise to the claim in the three (3) months before the claim arose, or (b) one hundred dollars (US $100).
The foregoing exclusions and limits do not apply to the extent liability cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law (for example, liability resulting from our gross negligence or willful misconduct).

16) Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless True-North, its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, and agents from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your violation of these Terms or misuse of the Services.

17) Compliance & Tax Matters

True-North is a nonprofit organization. Donations may be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Please consult your tax advisor. Our IRS and state charitable registration information is available upon request and may be listed on our website.

18) Accessibility

We aim to make our website and programs accessible. If you encounter barriers, contact us so we can try to help.

19) Governing Law & Venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Exclusive venue shall be the state or federal courts located in Riverside County, California, unless another venue is required by law.
